Each day at Secret Garden Summer School is packed with seven memorable activity sessions, plus a healthy lunch and snack breaks. Weather permitting, all our activities will be held outdoors or in our woodland Tipi.
Here’s our daily timetable:
Children will take part in activities covering each of the following categories:
Children will develop social skills, emotional intelligence and build their knowledge in the sciences, participating in nature-based learning activities such as den building, setting up campfires, woodland walks, wild plant foraging, den building, bug hunts, pond dipping.
Children will learn about animal care, agriculture and the food chain at our on site farm! Activities include feeding rounds, animal grooming and care, picking fruit, making jams, collecting and packing eggs, and tending to the vegetable garden.
Arts and Crafts
Children will explore their creative talents through our extensive art and craft resources. Activities will include painting, sketching, pottery and creating scrapbook stories.
Sports & Games
Children will participate in a daily physical session which will typically include 1-2 games ranging from a very long list of options. Popular games include archery, foam fencing, football, tag rugby and capture the flag.
National Curriculum reading, writing and numeracy are integrated into fun games and challenges as part of a daily academic session. Children will learn without realising it as part of activities including slime writing, message in a bottle challenge and science experiments.
In addition, there will be a daily special activity typically involving a specialist teacher or special resources. Planned activities include making music with musical instruments, cooking, baking, treasure hunts and a talent show.
